Cort KX500 Baritone Electric Guitar - Natural Black Burst

The Cort KX500 Baritone is a purpose-built extended-scale electric guitar designed for players who regularly work in low tunings. With a 28.03" (712mm) scale length, it provides the string tension and note definition that standard-scale guitars struggle to maintain when tuned down. It suits metal, progressive, and experimental players who need a baritone that responds precisely under heavy playing rather than feeling slack or undefined.

The KX500 Baritone features a Seymour Duncan Nazgûl and Sentient humbucker set — the Nazgûl delivering high-output drive and clarity for aggressive playing, while the Sentient keeps the neck position articulate and musical. The body is constructed from Okoume with an English Walnut veneer top, and the bolt-on neck is a roasted maple and walnut 5-ply laminate topped with a Macassar ebony fingerboard. Jumbo stainless steel frets (24 total) provide consistent feel and long-term durability, while a 15.75" fingerboard radius supports fast, comfortable movement across the neck. A push/pull tone control enables coil-splitting for single-coil tones, broadening the tonal range beyond what most baritones offer. Cort locking tuners and a Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut contribute to tuning stability, and the hardtail bridge anchors sustain and response under hard playing.

The guitar ships strung with D'Addario EXL157 strings (.014–.068), suited to the extended scale and low tuning applications. The neck has a D-shape profile with a thickness of 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth, while the truss rod is two-way adjustable via a spoke nut for straightforward setup. Both the body and neck carry a matte finish — the body in an open-pore matte — which keeps the guitar looking understated. The KX500 Baritone is available in Natural Black Burst.
