EarthQuaker Devices Aurelius Tri-Voice Chorus

The EarthQuaker Devices Aurelius Tri-Voice Chorus is a compact digital chorus pedal offering three distinct modulation voices — Vibrato (Mode V), Chorus (Mode C), and Rotary Chorus (Mode R) — in a single, pedalboard-friendly enclosure. Inspired by the 1970s CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, the Aurelius has been developed to deliver a wide-ranging chorus and vibrato experience suitable for guitar, bass, keys, and synthesiser. With six programmable preset slots and full expression pedal support, it suits players who need versatile, repeatable modulation in a live or studio context.

Each of the three modes offers independent control over Width, Rate, and Balance. Mode V uses a triangle LFO to modulate a short delay line, leaning towards vibrato; turning Balance fully clockwise removes the dry signal for pure pitch vibrato. Mode C blends chorus and flanger characteristics using a sine wave LFO, with higher Width settings introducing feedback and a more pronounced flanging character. Mode R models the sound of a Leslie speaker cabinet, combining amplitude and frequency modulation for a Doppler effect, with Balance adjusting the wet/dry mix and accentuating sub frequencies at higher settings. The pedal operates in two modes: Live Mode, where the knob positions are active in real time, and Preset Mode, where one of six stored settings is recalled using the Preset switch. The EXP jack accepts any TRS expression pedal to control Width, Rate, or Balance, and also accepts Control Voltage in the 0–3.3V range. Each preset can store a unique EXP jack assignment.

The Aurelius uses EarthQuaker Devices' Flexi-Switch® relay-based true bypass technology, supporting both standard latching and momentary switching operation. Because switching is relay-based, the pedal requires power to pass signal. It runs on a standard 9V DC centre-negative power supply (2.1mm barrel) drawing 75mA. EarthQuaker Devices recommend using a pedal-specific, transformer-isolated or isolated-output supply to avoid noise.

Flexi-Switch® Technology
This device features Flexi-Switch® Technology! This relay-based, true bypass switching style allows you to simultaneously use momentary and latching style switching.

• For standard latching operation, tap the footswitch once to activate the effect and then tap again to bypass.
• For momentary operation, hold the footswitch down for as long as you’d like to use the effect. Once you release the switch the effect will be bypassed.

Since the switching is relay based, it requires power to pass signal.

POWER
This device takes a standard 9 volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. We always recommend pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies. Pedals will make extra noise if there is ripple or unclean power. Switching-type power supplies, daisy chains and non-pedal specific power supplies do not filter dirty power as well and let through unwanted noise. DO NOT RUN AT HIGHER VOLTAGES!
