The Fender American Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster in Olympic White with Maple Fingerboard is a period-accurate recreation of the iconic CBS-era Stratocaster as it appeared in 1973. Built for players who appreciate authentic vintage Fender tone and construction, this guitar faithfully reproduces the design cues that were standard specification by the early 1970s and widely favoured by rock, funk, fusion and prog guitarists of the era. The American Vintage II series sits at the top of Fender's production lineup and is suited to experienced players seeking genuine vintage feel and sound without the expense or fragility of an original instrument.

The 1973 Stratocaster is fitted with a trio of Pure Vintage '73 Single-Coil Strat pickups, voiced specifically to replicate the sound of pickups from that model year. These pickups are constructed with cloth-covered wire, fibre bobbins and alnico magnets. The ash body is finished in Gloss Polyurethane in Olympic White, and the maple neck carries a 1973 "C" profile with a 7.25" radius maple fingerboard and 21 vintage tall frets. The large '70s-style headstock features dual-wing string trees and Pure Vintage Fender "F" Stamped tuning machines. A 3-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt mechanism and a bullet-style truss rod nut are included, along with an American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo with bent steel saddles and a cold rolled steel tremolo block. The pickguard is 3-ply parchment with aged white knobs, pickup covers and switch tip.

The guitar ships with Fender USA 250R Nickel Plated Steel strings (.010–.046 gauges) and is supplied with a vintage-style black hardshell case with orange interior. The 25.5" scale length and bone nut contribute to the instrument's characteristic vintage feel and sustain. Controls consist of a master volume, two tone controls (one for neck/middle pickups, one for bridge), and a 5-position blade switch covering all standard single-coil combinations. This is a right-hand instrument.

Specially voiced to reproduce the authentic sound and performance of individual model years, Pure Vintage pickups are constructed just like pickups from Fender’s golden years. Materials include cloth-covered wire, fiber bobbins and alnico magnets.

From the bridge to the string tree and tuning machines, every piece of American Vintage II hardware is manufactured to look, sound and function just like it did on the originals. Much of the American Vintage II hardware is still manufactured on the original ‘50s and ‘60s era Fender factory machines.
