Fender Pugilist Distortion V2

The Fender Pugilist Distortion V2 is a dual-engine distortion pedal housed in a road-ready anodised aluminium enclosure, suited to guitarists who demand versatile, high-gain tones from a single compact unit. Whether playing rock, metal, or anything in between, the Pugilist V2 accommodates a wide range of playing styles and rigs, making it equally at home on a beginner's first pedalboard or a seasoned performer's touring rig.

At the heart of the Pugilist V2 are two independent distortion circuits, each activated by its own dedicated footswitch and shaped individually via separate Gain, Tone, and Level controls. Engine A is voiced for treble-rich lead drive tones, while Engine B delivers thicker, heavier distortion. The Path switch routes the two engines through three distinct signal paths — two Series modes that cascade one circuit into the other for stacked, amp-channel-style gain, and a Parallel mode that runs both engines side by side for blending and balancing via the Level controls. Global Mid Cut and Bass Boost switches provide additional tonal shaping across both engines simultaneously, allowing players to tighten or fatten the overall sound to suit their guitar and amplifier combination.

Practical features for live use include top-mounted input and output jacks to keep the pedal's footprint tidy on a pedalboard, multiswitch-enabled footswitches that support both latching (tap) and momentary (press-and-hold) operation, and a rear-panel switch for selecting between true bypass and buffered bypass modes, with relay-based auto-bypass engaging automatically when no power is present. The pedal is powered by a 9V centre-negative AC adaptor (not included) and is constructed from lightweight, durable anodised aluminium built to withstand the demands of regular gigging and touring.
