Ibanez AEG721 7-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Black Out

The Ibanez AEG721 is a 7-string acoustic-electric guitar finished in Black Out, designed for players who want extended range capability in an acoustic format. Built around Ibanez's AEG body shape, it suits guitarists exploring lower tunings, drop tunings, or extended chord voicings, and is equally at home on stage or in the studio thanks to its onboard electronics package. The all-black aesthetic — from the tuners and nut through to the bridge and saddle — gives it a distinctive, uniform look that sets it apart from conventional acoustic instruments.

The AEG721 features a Spruce top for clear, articulate tone, paired with Sapele back and sides that contribute a full-bodied, warm midrange with bright upper frequencies. The Comfort Grip 3-piece Nyatoh/Maple neck uses a Thin-C profile for comfortable playability across all positions, while the Macassar Ebony fretboard and bridge deliver tight low-end response, strong high-end attack, and rich sustain. Electronics are handled by a Fishman S-Core pickup paired with the Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp, which includes an onboard tuner, bass and treble controls, and both balanced XLR and 1/4-inch outputs for flexible connectivity. Ibanez Advantage bridge pins round out the hardware, offering easier string changes compared to standard pins.

The guitar is strung with D'Addario XTAPB1253 strings plus an additional .070 gauge phosphor bronze string for the seventh course, with a factory tuning of 1E, 2B, 3G, 4D, 5A, 6E, 7B. The 634mm scale length and 50.2mm nut width accommodate the wider string spacing required for a 7-string instrument. A 9V battery powers the preamp system.
