The IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD is a digital, high-definition microphone interface and preamp designed for musicians, podcasters, journalists, videographers, and vloggers who need professional-quality audio recording on the go. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, Mac, and PC, it connects via Lightning cable for plug-and-play use with Apple iOS devices and via USB cable for Mac and PC computers. Certified by Apple as an MFi (Made for iPhone and iPad) interface, the iRig Pre HD is guaranteed to work with all Lightning-connector iOS devices, including those without a headphone jack.

At the heart of the iRig Pre HD is a high-quality Class A microphone preamp with onboard gain control, capable of handling dynamic, ribbon, and condenser microphones — including those requiring +48V phantom power, supplied by 2 x AA batteries. The unit delivers up to 96kHz/24-bit audio resolution with a full, flat frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz (+/- 1.5dB). Multicolour LEDs provide visual gain level feedback and phantom power status at a glance. An integrated headphone output with dedicated volume control allows for direct monitoring via the direct monitor switch, enabling real-time, latency-free listening during recording. The headphone output can also double as an auxiliary output for external devices such as mixers, amplifiers, or PA systems. A custom ASIO driver is included for superior performance on Windows machines.

The iRig Pre HD is housed in an ultra-compact enclosure and ships with a Lightning cable, USB cable, 2 x AA batteries, and a velcro mounting strip for attachment to a microphone stand, belt, or other support. Bundled software includes Mic Room for iOS, Mic Pack for VocaLive, and Pro Bundle for iRig Recorder, providing a comprehensive recording and processing toolkit straight out of the box. Its combination of portability, professional-grade preamp circuitry, and broad device compatibility makes it a practical solution for field recording, broadcast, studio use, and content creation.
