The IK Multimedia TONEX Plug is a compact, portable headphone amplifier designed for electric guitar and bass players who want studio-quality tone anywhere they go. Powered by IK's AI Machine Modeling™ engine — the same technology found in the TONEX Pedal and TONEX ONE — this pocket-sized device connects directly to any guitar or bass via its 1/4" swivel jack and delivers authentic amp and effects tones through its 1/8" stereo headphone output. It suits players of all levels who want to practise silently, record on the go, or explore a vast library of amp and pedal sounds without the need for a full rig.

The TONEX Plug comes preloaded with 30 factory presets and stores up to 30 user presets across 10 colour-coded banks. It provides access to over 50,000 free Tone Models via the ToneNET community platform, as well as Premium and Signature Collections. Built-in effects include EQ, noise gate, compressor, delay, modulation, and reverb, alongside a chromatic tuner with LED indicator. Bluetooth connectivity enables wireless audio streaming from apps and provides full control via the TONEX Control app (iOS/Android), which allows users to browse and load Tone Models from ToneNET, edit amp, cab, EQ, IRs, and effects parameters, and save presets directly to the hardware. The device also functions as a USB-C audio interface for direct recording to a computer. Included software comprises TONEX SE and AmpliTube 5 SE.

Powered by an internal rechargeable battery offering up to 6 hours of playtime, the TONEX Plug is designed for practical use in any setting — late-night practice, travel, backstage warm-ups, or studio recording sessions. Players can stream backing tracks or use guitar learning apps in real time while hearing their instrument through the modelled amp signal. Onboard preset navigation buttons and a volume control allow for quick adjustments without requiring the companion app, while the built-in tuner and metronome settings can be saved to the device for offline use.
