Jackson Pro Origins 1985 San Dimas SD1 HH FR, Maple Fingerboard, Candy Apple Red

The Jackson Pro Origins 1985 San Dimas SD1 HH FR is an electric guitar built in Ensenada that revisits the San Dimas style that shaped Jackson's early reputation in the metal and hard rock world. Finished in Candy Apple Red with a gloss body finish, this guitar suits players who want historically informed tones and construction in a modern, road-ready instrument. It draws on original Jackson specifications from the 1980s and is suited to intermediate and advanced guitarists who play hard rock, metal, and high-gain styles.

The guitar features a resonant alder San Dimas body paired with a bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement, scarf joint, and a natural satin finish. The maple fingerboard has a 12"-16" compound radius and 22 jumbo frets with large black dot inlays, allowing comfortable chord work near the nut and improved bending articulation higher up the neck. Custom-voiced Jackson J-90C (bridge, ceramic magnets) and J-50N (neck, alnico V magnets) humbuckers are based on the original 1980s recipe. A top-mounted Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo provides stable tuning under heavy use. Hardware is finished in black throughout, including dome-style control knobs, a Jackson pointed 6-in-line headstock, and Jackson sealed die-cast tuning machines.

Controls are straightforward: a volume knob, a tone knob, and a 3-position toggle switch selecting bridge, bridge-and-neck, or neck pickup. Strings are nickel plated steel (.009–.042 gauges). The guitar ships with an included Jackson gig bag, making it ready to transport from the moment it arrives.

One of the most popular Jackson pickups from the early days of the Jackson Custom Shop was brought back with to life in this new series. With ceramic magnets in the J-90C and alnico V magnets in the J-50N the sonic capabilities of these pickup is as good today as it was almost 40 years ago. The low end is tight and responsive and the pick attack cuts through mix like a hot knife through butter!

12"-16" Compound Radius Fingerboard
Jackson pioneered the use of the innovative 12"-16" compound radius design, in which the fingerboard gradually flattens toward the heel from its more rounded profile at the nut. This makes for comfortable and natural-feeling chording and riffing near the nut, with optimal shred articulation and bending nearer the heel.
