Description
The Korg Kronos 3 is a professional music workstation available in 73-key configuration, featuring Korg's RH3 Real Weighted Hammer Action keyboard made in Japan. Suited to performing musicians and studio producers who require a comprehensive, stage-ready instrument, the Kronos 3 combines nine distinct sound engines, extensive onboard sequencing, and a refined fourth-generation design with a powder-coated metal body and black wood side panels. System Version 3.2 brings a 60% faster startup time compared to previous models, along with an enhanced 8-inch TouchView colour display.
The Kronos 3 includes 256 additional sound programs over previous generations, among them 128 brand-new programs featuring an Italian Grand piano (via the enhanced SGX-2 engine), the Tine EP I Early electric piano, FM electric pianos, synth pads, and leads. The SGX-2 Grand Piano engine now offers four grand piano voices — German, Japanese, Berlin, and Italian — with Sympathetic String Resonance and newly recorded Una Corda samples. Preloaded Sound Library content includes KRS-08 Best of TRITON (128 programs), KRS-04 Pro Splits and Layers, KRS-05 Ensemble Combinations, and KRS-06/KRS-06B CX-3 Signature Sounds (256 CX-3 organ programs). The instrument draws on approximately 21 GB of preset waveform data and houses a 120 GB internal SSD for user samples and additional Sound Libraries. A 16-track MIDI sequencer, 16-track audio recorder (up to four simultaneous tracks at 48 kHz/24-bit), KARMA algorithmic music technology, Drum Tracks, Open Sampling System, and 16 onboard effect processors are all included. The control surface features eight real-time knobs, nine sliders, a vector joystick, ribbon controller, and two assignable switches.
The 73-key Kronos 3 measures 1,245 x 370 x 148 mm and weighs 20.4 kg, making it transportable for gigging while retaining the full RH3 weighted action shared with the 88-key model. Connectivity includes balanced TRS main and individual outputs (1–4), S/P DIF optical digital I/O, two balanced TRS audio inputs with MIC/LINE switching, standard MIDI In/Out/Thru, two USB-A ports for external devices, and one USB-B port for MIDI and audio interface use. Set List mode supports 16 colour-coded touch buttons, a dedicated 9-band graphic EQ, and on-screen performance notes. The Kronos Sound Libraries ecosystem spans over 300 titles purchasable separately, with a single licence usable across up to three registered Kronos or Nautilus units.
