Korg PA5X-76 Oriental Arranger Keyboard

The Korg Pa5X Oriental is a professional arranger keyboard designed for musicians performing and creating music across Arabic, Turkish, Persian, and broader Middle Eastern musical traditions. The 76-key version features semi-weighted keys with aftertouch, making it well suited to live performance and studio work. It builds upon the standard Pa5X platform by adding an extensive collection of Oriental sounds, drum and percussion kits, keyboard sets, pads, and styles, making it a comprehensive instrument for those working within these musical genres as well as Western styles.

At the heart of the Pa5X Oriental is the EDS-XP (Enhanced Definition Synthesis – Expanded) sound engine, which delivers 24 stereo oscillators and 160 voices of polyphony. The instrument includes over 2,600 sounds (including 240 Oriental sounds and 70 Oriental drum kits), 844 factory styles (630 standard Pa5X styles plus 264 Oriental styles), and 768 user sound and 384 user drum kit locations with full editing capability. A large 8-inch tiltable touchscreen provides the primary interface, with multicoloured LED buttons and a colour-driven graphical interface for easy navigation. The control surface includes 9 assignable sliders and buttons, a joystick, and a ribbon controller. An on-screen virtual keyboard enables real-time Oriental scale selection and individual key retuning, with multiple scales operable simultaneously. Dual crossfading players (XDS) allow two styles, MIDI files, or MP3 files to be played simultaneously in any combination, with seamless transitions between them.

The Pa5X Oriental features a sturdy aluminium body with wooden side panels. Connectivity includes dedicated microphone and guitar inputs each with dedicated effects, MIDI, USB, HDMI, and audio in/out connections, as well as pedal connectors. The onboard sampler supports AIFF, WAV, and SF2 file formats. A SongBook feature allows songs and styles to be organised into set lists for live performance management. The instrument is compatible with the optional PaAS MK2 amplification system.
