The Roland GR-55GKBK is a professional-grade guitar synthesiser that includes the GK-3 Divided Pickup, making it a complete package for guitarists looking to explore the world of synthesis without sourcing a pickup separately. Built around a powerful triple-core sound engine, the GR-55 combines two PCM synthesiser layers with COSM guitar modelling to deliver an enormous palette of tones — from orchestral strings and vintage synths to modelled guitars, basses, and amplifiers. It suits both working performers and studio-based guitarists who want access to versatile, production-ready sounds from a single floor unit.
The GR-55 features over 900 fully editable PCM tones, 23 COSM guitar modelling types (guitar mode), and supports up to four simultaneous sound sources — two PCM synth tones, COSM modelling, and the normal guitar input. Roland's pitch detection technology ensures fast, accurate tracking, while the COSM modelling engine operates with zero detection latency. Two multi-effects engines are on board alongside global reverb, chorus, delay, and an integrated looper. Patch storage covers 270 guitar mode presets plus 297 user memory slots, with quick-access category buttons for fast sound selection. Two USB ports enable MIDI and audio communication with a computer, as well as real-time audio file playback from a USB memory device — all controllable by foot.
The unit connects via a 13-pin GK IN connector and includes standard quarter-inch outputs (L/MONO and R), a guitar output, stereo headphone jack, and 5-pin DIN MIDI in and out. The GK-3 Divided Pickup and a 5-metre GK cable are included in this GK bundle, along with an AC adaptor. The graphic LCD (240 x 64 dots) and EZ Edit feature simplify sound customisation for players at any experience level. Power is supplied via DC 9V at 700mA.
