The Squier Sonic™ Stratocaster® HSS is an entry-level to intermediate electric guitar suited to beginners and developing players who want genuine Fender-family tone and style at an accessible price point. Built around a thin, lightweight poplar body finished in gloss polyurethane, this Black model pairs a maple neck and fingerboard with an all-black aesthetic — black pickguard, black control knobs, black switch tip, and black hardware accents — making it a visually cohesive choice for players who prefer a darker look.

The guitar features an HSS pickup configuration: a ceramic humbucker at the bridge for higher-output, fuller-bodied tones, complemented by ceramic single-coil pickups at the middle and neck positions. The 5-position blade switch provides access to five distinct pickup combinations, and the two-tone control layout (Tone 1 for neck/middle, Tone 2 for bridge) gives players independent tonal shaping across the pickup selections. The maple neck carries a comfortable "C" profile with a 25.5" scale length, a 9.5" fingerboard radius, 21 narrow-tall frets, and a synthetic bone nut at 1.650" width. A 6-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo with block saddles allows for vibrato expression, while die-cast sealed tuning machines provide stable, smooth tuning.

This model is strung with nickel-plated steel strings (.009–.042 gauges) and ships without a case or gig bag. The satin urethane neck finish offers a fast, comfortable feel under the fretting hand. The tremolo bridge supports standard vibrato use; players requiring stable tuning under heavier tremolo use may wish to consider setup adjustments or a locking nut upgrade at a later stage. Chrome hardware, a 4-bolt Squier® neck plate, and the overall fit and finish reflect Fender's dedication to quality on a budget throughout the Squier range.
