The Yamaha Clavinova CLP-845 is a mid-to-upper-range digital piano designed for dedicated home pianists and serious students seeking a grand piano-like playing experience in a compact cabinet. It suits players who want authentic acoustic feel and tone without the size, maintenance, or cost of a traditional grand piano. Available in Black, this model sits toward the upper end of the CLP-800 series and is backed by a 5-year Australia-wide warranty.
The CLP-845 features the GrandTouch-S keyboard action with wooden white keys, synthetic ebony and ivory key surfaces, and escapement — the subtle tactile resistance felt when depressing a grand piano key at low pressure. Piano tone is drawn from two world-class concert grand samples: the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial, both available with Binaural Sampling for a spacious, three-dimensional listening experience through headphones. Grand Expression Modeling and Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) replicate the complex harmonic interactions between strings found in an acoustic grand, adding depth and realism to the sound. The speaker system delivers 180 W of total amplification through four speakers — two 16 cm woofers and two 8 cm mid-range drivers, each fitted with diffusers — arranged to project sound in a manner similar to an acoustic upright. The instrument offers 38 preset voices, 256-note maximum polyphony, and playing modes including Dual/Layer, Split, and Duo. Onboard effects include 7 reverb types, 3 chorus types, 7 brilliance types, and 12 insertion effect types. Bluetooth audio and MIDI connectivity allows wireless audio streaming and connection to the Yamaha Smart Pianist app for full instrument control and sheet music playback.
The CLP-845 supports MIDI recording of up to 250 songs across 16 tracks, and audio recording direct to USB flash drive at up to 80 minutes per song in WAV format. It includes 303 lesson songs plus 50 Classic preset songs and ships with a “50 Classical Music Masterpieces” music book. The cabinet features a sliding key cover, a wide music rest with page clips, and a full-dots LCD display. Connectivity includes two standard stereo headphone jacks, AUX IN (stereo mini jack), AUX OUT (standard phone jack), USB to Device, and USB to Host ports. A bench and AC adaptor are included (configuration varies by area).
