Yamaha FG9 M Natural

The Yamaha FG9 M is a handcrafted, Japan-made flagship steel-string acoustic guitar featuring a mahogany back and sides paired with an Adirondack spruce top. It is designed for singer-songwriters seeking outstanding projection, clarity, and detailed articulation in an acoustic instrument. The dreadnought body shape produces powerful low-end response and projective tones, making it well suited to strumming and rhythm playing.

The FG9 M features an Adirondack spruce top with tapered edges, which provide structural integrity while allowing the body to vibrate more freely for improved power and sensitivity. A new bolt-on neck joint combines bolt-on and glued construction to enhance body resonance and improve long-term maintainability, with neck and body joints finished and adjusted to high precision. The fingerboard inlays draw on traditional Japanese Kumiki woodworking patterns, while rope-shaped inlay and purfling on the rosette reflect Japanese cultural motifs. The design process integrated cutting-edge acoustic and 3D-structural measurement with repeated prototype builds by skilled luthiers in Yamaha's custom shop.

As an acoustic-only model (without the Atmosfeel pickup system found in the FG9 RX and FG9 MX variants), the FG9 M is optimised purely for unplugged performance. Its dreadnought body responds superbly to strumming with strong low-end presence and clear projection, while still delivering the articulation required for vocal accompaniment. The mahogany back and sides contribute warm midrange character that complements a wide range of musical styles.
