Description
Fender Santa Ana Overdrive V2
The Fender Santa Ana Overdrive V2 is a JFET-based class-A overdrive pedal designed for guitarists seeking the touch sensitivity and high-headroom drive characteristic of a pushed Fender tube amplifier. Running at 18V internally, it suits players who want a wide tonal range — from tight, natural-sounding overdrive to smooth, thick lead tones — within a single, road-ready unit housed in an aluminium enclosure.
At the core of the Santa Ana V2 is a dual-voice drive circuit with Drive, Tone, and Level controls, complemented by a Voice switch to toggle between voice A (tight overdrive) and voice B (smooth lead). A rear-mounted Tight switch pulls pre-drive bass frequencies for a more focused drive. An independently switchable 3-band active EQ — with Bass, Middle, and Treble controls featuring centre detents for flat response — can be placed before or after the drive circuit via an EQ Placement switch. Pre-drive EQ colours which frequencies are clipped most heavily; post-drive EQ shapes the resulting gain for a more dramatic effect. Footswitches support both latching and momentary activation via a rear-panel Multiswitch, and the pedal offers switchable buffered or true bypass modes with relay-based auto-bypass when unpowered. Jacks are top-mounted for tidy pedalboard integration.
The Santa Ana V2 is powered by a 9V centre-negative AC adaptor (not included) and operates its internal circuitry at 18V for enhanced headroom. The relay-based bypass ensures signal integrity even when power is lost. With its combination of JFET drive, independent EQ, and flexible bypass options, it suits a wide range of playing styles and pedalboard configurations.
